Dr Deery is a general adult psychiatrist who, after completing a medical degree at Monash University, went on to undergo psychiatry training across NSW and Victoria. After being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult himself, Dr Deery has aimed to assist others to understand the diagnosis and challenge negative perceptions and stigma around the condition. Dr Deery also holds a position as Consultant Psychiatrist at NorthWestern Mental Health.


Dr Deery believes that effective mental health management relies on mutual understanding and a collaborative approach which acknowledges each person’s unique background and goals. Utilising an empathic, non-judgmental approach, supported by evidence-based practices, Dr Deery aims to work with patients to understand and promote their own mental health.

Treatment Philosophy


Dr Deery spent his training aiming to develop a comprehensive understanding of the practice of psychiatry by working across a variety of diverse settings. These included both hospital and community based mental health settings in metropolitan and rural locations. He also gained experience in forensics, substance use disorders, acute and emergency psychiatric management, and worked with the Australian Defence Force and first responders.
