Dr Sinnott is an general adult psychiatrist who trained in medicine at Monash University and later completed his psychiatry training at Barwon Health in Geelong as well as time at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health. He currently works for the Victorian Mental Health Tribunal and at Focus Psychiatry.


Dr Sinnott believes in developing a shared understanding of the reasons leading to a person seeking help with their mental health and providing expert advice that empowers a person to make informed choices in their process of recovery. He is empathic and aims to create collaborative and comprehensive management plans that take into account a person’s psychological, social, and biological contributors to their current situation.

Treatment Philosophy


Dr Sinnott has over a decade of experience working in psychiatry. His training included working with patients and families across the lifespan in inpatient and outpatient settings in public and private mental health services, as well as in forensic psychiatry in a prison setting. As a consultant psychiatrist, Dr Sinnott has worked in a number of public mental health services across the country including in metropolitan, rural and remote locations. This has allowed him to obtain a breadth of experience in helping patients from a diverse range of backgrounds. He has worked extensively with Indigenous Australians and with current and former ADF members. Dr Sinnott also works separately providing telehealth psychiatry at Focus Psychiatry.
