DR FERNANDA WEYNE
Dr. Weyne is an experienced consultant psychiatrist with a strong commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care and medical education. Originally from overseas, she completed her specialist training in Adult Psychiatry at the prestigious University of Verona, Italy, graduating in 2016 with the highest honours.
In 2019, Dr. Weyne relocated to Australia for family reasons and has since worked across both public and private mental health settings. She is currently the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Section Coordinator of Training for Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) at Albury Wodonga Health. In this role, she plays a vital part in supporting and mentoring psychiatrists in training, reflecting her deep dedication to professional development and education in psychiatry.
Dr. Weyne is actively involved in several professional bodies and contributes to public presentations, mentorship, and educational initiatives, particularly in rural areas. She is passionate about Women’s Mental Health and brings a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approach to her clinical work. She has numerous interests and areas of expertise, and she is respected for her empathetic, evidence-based approach to care.
Dr Weyne focuses on holistic, high-quality, individualised patient care. She believes that each individual’s experience is unique and that meaningful, effective care comes through collaboration and strong therapeutic relationships. She takes pride in tailoring her practice to each patient’s specific needs, fostering open and honest communication around treatment planning. Her approach is trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and firmly grounded in empathy and respect.
Treatment Philosophy
Over the course of her career, Dr. Weyne has worked in diverse clinical environments, including psychiatric research centres, community mental health services, psychotherapy clinics, recovery and rehabilitation programs, inpatient units and correctional facilities. While her experience is broad, her passion remains firmly rooted in outpatient care. She is skilled in conducting remote assessments and is comfortable supporting patients at all stages of their mental health journey.
