JESSICA CALLANAN (Click for telehealth link)

I have always felt a deep calling to work in mental health, and from an early age, I knew that I wanted to dedicate my life to helping others navigate their emotional and psychological challenges. This passion led me to pursue a Bachelor of Psychology, followed by an Honours year at the Cairnmillar Institute. I furthered my expertise by completing my Masters of Professional Practice (Psychology) at ISN, where I developed a deep commitment to holistic and compassionate care.

My professional journey began with a focus on children and adolescents, which gave me the invaluable experience of working with a broad range of psychological conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma and neurodiversity. Over the years, I have cultivated a particular interest in trauma-informed care and anxiety-related disorders, which led me to pursue specialised training in EMDR therapy. This advanced skill set enables me to offer evidence-based support tailored to the unique needs of each individual I work with.

Areas of experience:

  • Children/Adolescents (11 years and older)

  • Trauma

  • ADHD/ASD

  • Family Conflict

  • Anxiety

  • Mood Disorders

Treatment Philosophy

I firmly believe that the therapeutic space should be one of unconditional kindness, empathy and respect. Every individual who walks into my room deserves to feel heard, understood and safe. It is a privilege to be invited into the lives of my clients and I am deeply committed to walking alongside them as they navigate their journey towards healing. My approach is grounded in the values of patience, compassion and understanding. I strive to create a warm, supportive environment where each person feels empowered and respected, knowing that they are in the hands of someone who genuinely cares for their well-being.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in both large and smaller educational settings. I spent over two years working at Aquinas College in Ringwood, a co-educational school with approximately 1800 students and a similar amount of time at Mater Christi College in Belgrave, a girls' school with circa 800 students. These experiences have allowed me to develop a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by children and adolescents and the importance of a compassionate, nurturing approach to mental health support.
