Dr Maxwell Marrows is a consultation-liaison psychiatrist with an interest in sports psychiatry. He completed his medical training at the University of Melbourne, including placements in regional Victoria, followed by psychiatry training in metropolitan Melbourne. He currently holds a public appointment at Alfred Health and is known for his relaxed and approachable interpersonal style.
Outside of work, he enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with his family.

Dr Marrows takes a collaborative and respectful approach, working with each person to understand their experiences, values, and goals. He is especially interested in how physical and mental health influence each other and adapts care to reflect the whole person. His approach emphasises flexibility and non-judgmental support for people from all backgrounds.

Professional Areas of Interest:
Dr Marrows has worked across a broad range of clinical settings — including inpatient, consultation-liaison, and community-based services — within several Victorian health services. He holds a public appointment at Alfred Health, working with the HOPE (Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement) team and in Consultation- Liaison Psychiatry, and also provides telepsychiatry services to rural and under-resourced areas. He regularly contributes to medical student and junior doctor teaching, as well as psychiatric research.
In addition to general psychiatry, his clinical background includes experience working in neuropsychiatry, eating disorders, functional and somatic disorders, chronic pain, forensic, organ-transplant and addiction psychiatry.
