Depression

What is depression?

Depression (also known as Major Depressive Disorder) is a mood disorder that can make a person feel very flat, irritable or even numb.

Symptoms of depression

Individuals with depression often lose interest in things they normally enjoy and can struggle with motivation and fatigue. Their sleep and dietary intake can be disrupted and they may develop dark thoughts of not wanting to be around anymore. These depression symptoms are often ‘sticky’ and last more than two weeks. There are different types of depression and while some may experience high functioning depression others may experience more severe forms of it. No matter the type or degree of depression, all clinicians are here to help and Aphrodite and Brenda have particular expertise in postnatal depression.
